As Fit as Olympic sportperson

The other day I was reading Business Standard's weekend edition, could realize after reading an article about the physical fitness of the shooters.

Shooter preparing for Olympics and the computer engineer using same kind of muscles and concentration to achieve one's defined goals. The shooters are more physically fit and active, why not me?. When analyzed the problem lies at oneself, one should not think only work exists in the world. One should do whatever likes to him to stay as fit as possible.

Check out how Usain Bolt maintains his cool...
An interviewer asked Usain Bolt: "You always seem so relaxed, laid back and enjoying the moment." Usain replied: "That's what you should do. You have to enjoy yourself. When you start thinking too much, that is when you get problems. You think about the race too much then you get nervous: 'Oh God! I've got to get a good start. I got to remember etc.

Sponsorship: What's this all about?

Recently during a cricket match I could see Ford, an auto-car maker sponsoring the cricket matches in New Zealand. I was thinking how could Ford can enhance its sales through cricket sponsorship. Of course, Sponsorship is done with the intention to purchase of sponsor's product.

The perspective that I'm seeing is 'what percentage of the people' who are watching the cricket matches are the potential buyers for the sponsor's product.

For instance, Rolex watches sponsors Tennis, Yachting, Golf. I find it is ok, because the company could find potential buyers in those games. The hobbies and activities of the people match with the kind of product the company manufacturers.

But, cricket I could not see the potential buyers (may be I'm wrong) of Ford car. How to prove? Very difficult. But I could visualize Vodafone, Airtel, ITC, Hero Honda etc., to be. Because people who watch cricket might be able to take telecom services, buy products of daily usage and etc.,

It is known that sponsorship effectiveness can be measured in brand awareness, attitude toward sponsorship, and purchase intentions. Ford may be doing brand awareness among large pool of people out there who watching cricket.

Finally, if you ask me which car would like to buy Maruti or Ford. I would definitely choose Ford for the brand value it possess. But due to some other reasons I had bought Maruti Suzuki Dzire.

Alice - An educational software

While browsing the internet related to media and education, could find the research page of CMU. The people at this institute developed an education software to teach kids the computer programming languages C++/Java/C#. Its very interesting where once can create animation/video, at the same time one can learn the computer programming. Check out more about it at Alice.

There is another tool Panda3D game engine for game development maintained by the CMU. To use Panda3D one must be skilled programmer.
